First visit to Braşov
Braşov is about 30min to the west of Teliu and was established on an ancient Dacian site in the 13th century by Teutonic knights. In the 13th century it was a German mercantile colony named Kronstadt (Brassó in Hungarian). Braşov was fortified and a large wall still surrounds the city. The Saxons built ornate churches and townhouses. Many of these medival buildings remain in what is known as the Centru vechi.
